Configuring One-Time Passwords
Note: This feature is applicable to situations where
1) a provider's user creates a new user for the provider, a reseller or a customer;
2) a customer's user creates a service user;
3) a provider's, reseller's, or customer's user resets another user's password;
4) customer's user resets a service user's password. The feature does not apply to the situations where users or service users reset their own passwords.
This feature allows you to enable your users to create only one-time passwords for provider's users, reseller's users, customer's users, and service users (MyCP users). If you enable the feature, your users will be able to create only one-time passwords for the above user categories. All such users will then have to change those single-use passwords to their own permanent ones on their first login to the respective control panel.
This setting is disabled by default. Your resellers have to configure this setting on their own. After you upgrade your system, you have to configure the setting manually in PCP and RCP for your resellers.
To enable single-use passwords:
- Log in to Billing as provider. Go to System > Settings and click Security in the System section. Switch to the Login Settings tab. The current configuration settings for login credentials are displayed.
- Click Edit. Enable these settings:
- One Time Password – set to Yes.
- Password Quality Level – set to your preferred level.
- Save the changes. You have successfully enabled the feature.
Important: One-Time Passwords must be enabled in Operations too if Billing is integrated with Operations (the main scenario). For the instructions, refer to Operations Provider's Guide.
