Configuring One-Time Passwords

Note: This feature is applicable to situations where
1) a provider's staff member creates a new staff member for the provider, a reseller, or a customer;
2) a customer's staff member creates a service user;
3) a provider's, reseller's, or customer's staff member resets another staff member's password;
4) a customer's staff member resets a service user's password.
The feature does not apply to the situations where staff members or service users reset their own passwords.

This feature allows you to enable staff members to create only one-time passwords for other staff members of provider, reseller, or customer as well as allowing a customer's staff members to set only one-time passwords for service users. If you enable the feature, staff members of any level will be able to create only one-time passwords for all the above user categories. All such users must then change those single-use passwords to their own permanent ones on their first login in to their control panel. CloudBlue Commerce synchronizes this setting for your resellers automatically. To enable single-use passwords:

  1. Go to System > Settings and click System Properties in the Core section.
  2. Click Edit. Enable the setting Allow creating only one-time passwords.
  3. Save the changes. Now staff members can create only one-time passwords for other staff members or service users.

Important: One-Time Passwords must be enabled in Billing too if Billing is integrated with Operations (the main scenario). For instructions, refer to Billing Provider's Guide.
