Editing Payment Method Details
If a payment method requires additional configuration, do it as follows:
- In the control panel, go to System > Settings > Payment Processing > Payment Methods.
- In the list of the active payment methods, click the name of a payment method to configure.
- Click Edit and specify:
General Options
- Ratification is required – Select the checkbox if manual approval is required for the payment method.
Auto-assign Customer Class – Select the customer class to assign it to the customers who use this payment method. Mind that payment method customer class has priority over promotion customer class. For more details, refer to the Customer Class Assignment Priority section.
Important: Do not specify customer classes with configured discounts – this leads to incorrect price calculation.
Also, make sure that the customer class specified in the Auto-assign customer class option have that payment method in the list Allowed Payment Methods. Consider the following example: a new customer places an order paying with payment method X and thus gets the customer class Y automatically assigned. Whereas, the customer class Y is configured in such a way that it does not have the payment method X in the Allowed Payment Methods list. As the result, customer's order will not be placed.
Handling Fee
- Handling Fee – If you want to charge a customer for using this payment method for payments, enter the amount to be charged into the field.
- Handling Fee Tax Category – To specify the tax rate for this handling Fee, click the icon next to the field and select the tax category from the window that opens.
Important notes about Handling Fee:
- If the handling fee is specified, then the warning about additional charge is shown to customers when they select the payment method for payment. Payment method name and its handling fee amount is shown in shopping cart and later is added to a customer order and shown as an order item.
- If order/invoice was already created, and customer chooses a different payment method later (for example, via CCP) handling fee will not be changed/recalculated.
- Handling fee is per order. If the provider uses consolidated invoices and handling fee, then the invoice can include multiple handling fees if it includes multiple orders (for example, from multiple subscriptions).
Refunds
- Process Refunds – Select the way you want the refunds to be processed:
- Manually, to process refunds manually.
- Automatically, to process refunds automatically.
Notes:
1. If a payment system is not associated with any payment gateway for the payment method (for example, a Check/Cash system), you cannot set the Process Refunds option to the Automatically value. Automatic refund processing is applicable only to those payment methods that have a payment gate assigned.
2. For the Credit Card payment system processing refunds require manual approval.
