Resource Mapping for Service Plan Upgrade Options
When configuring an allowed upgrade or downgrade between similar service plans (for example, from a Business to an Enterprise service plan), it can be important to define which resource from the source service plan will be replaced by which resource from the target service plan (that is, configure resource mapping).
To ensure that upgrades (or downgrades) between any two service plans occur as you expect:
-
Make sure that resource mapping is configured the way you need between the source and the target service plan:
Some resource mapping can already exist for the service plan upgrade scenario which you are configuring. It can happen because resource mapping is configured at the level of service templates, independently from service plan upgrade configurations. To ensure that upgrades (or downgrades) between any two service plans occur as expected, check and update their resource mapping configurations.
-
Make sure that there is a 1-1 mapping correspondence for each resource mapping between the two service plans. Avoid the bad resource mapping configurations described below.
Warning: Only 1-1 resource mapping correspondence is supported for service plan upgrade configurations.
Bad Resource Mapping Configurations for Service Plan Upgrades
Warning: The configurations below are not supported. To avoid errors, make sure that resources in your service plan upgrade scenarios are not mapped as described below.
Since any resource can be mapped to multiple resources when configuring service templates, the following bad resource mapping configurations for a service plan upgrade can occur:
-
Bad configuration 1: Two resources of the source service plan are mapped to the same resource of the target service plan:
Resource A1 in Plan A is mapped to Resource B in Plan B and Resource A2 in Plan A is also mapped to Resource B in Plan B.
-
Bad configuration 2: One resource of the source service plan is mapped to two different resources of the target service plan:
Resource A in Plan A is mapped to Resource B1 in Plan B and Resource A in Plan A is mapped to resource B2 in Plan B.
