Transferring Customer Accounts Between Distributors

You may need to transfer a customer account from one distributor to another in CloudBlue Commerce in the following cases:

  1. A customer knows that both resellers are resellers of the same provider and wants to switch from one reseller to another. This is a typical situation for providers that have local resellers operating under the provider’s brand.
  2. A reseller goes out of business and the provider needs to take over its customers.
  3. Two resellers get merged or a reseller’s department spins out.
  4. A user erroneously creates a customer account under a wrong reseller.
  5. As a provider, you use reseller accounts to trade in different currencies and you need to switch a customer to another currency.

Rules

  • Provider’s staff can transfer customer accounts between two resellers, from a reseller to provider, or from provider to a reseller.
  • Reseller’s staff can only transfer customer accounts from the reseller to a sub-reseller, from a sub-reseller to the reseller, or between two sub-resellers.

Privileges

  • You can transfer customer accounts between resellers in the classic Provider Control Panel (PCP) and Reseller Control Panel (RCP). The ability to transfer customer accounts requires the ACCOUNTS_CREATE_MODIFY privilege.
