Overview

The BIND DNS service is a DNS hosting service supported by CloudBlue Commerce. With this service, users of any system account can:

  • create forward DNS zone files for their domains on BIND DNS servers registered in the system,

  • manage DNS zone settings,

  • create and manage A, TLSA, TXT, CAA, NS, SRV, CNAME, MX, and AAAA DNS records,

  • enable DNSSEC for their domains.

Also, users of the provider control panel can:

  • create reverse DNS zone files on BIND DNS servers registered in the system,

  • manage reverse DNS zone settings,

  • create and manage PTR DNS records in those reverse DNS zones.

The deployment of the service consists of the following steps:

  1. Prepare virtual or physical servers that meet the requirements in these sections:

  2. On the servers, install and configure BIND so that the requirements in BIND Configuration Requirements will be met.

  3. Register the servers, as described in Registering BIND DNS Servers in the System.

  4. Create DNS resources for the service.

Note: The system does not manage the configuration of BIND installed on the servers. It manages only DNS zone files created by users for their domains.
