Configuring System Properties
One of the ways to configure your system is to choose which management options will be available in the control panel of your resellers and customers. The number of available options depends on the CloudBlue Commerce license you use and which CloudBlue Commerce components are currently installed.
In general, CloudBlue Commerce distinguishes three levels of system parameters management:
- License level. License includes the set of parameters (and its possible values) which are allowed for a provider. For example, if the parameter “Billing management” is not included in the license, then the provider will not be able to install packages related to it.
- Component level. If you have the necessary parameters included in the license, you can manage them if all the related components are properly installed.
- Provider level. The provider can manage system properties included in the license by turning them on and off. For example, you can forbid your child accounts to add new domains using the CloudBlue Commerce interface, though you have this possibility in your active license and the related packages are installed.
To change the system properties:
- Go to System > Settings > System Properties in the Core group. This page shows the management options and their current state: enabled or disabled.
- Click Edit change the configuration parameters. In the open screen, check the options you wish to enable, or uncheck to disable. Some properties have fields for entering information.
Field | Description |
---|---|
“First name” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field |
Switch this option on to forbid a CloudBlue Commerce Administrator from creating a staff member without filling in the specified information in the personal details. This property can be modified by the provider or reseller. The same is valid for the following options: “Last name” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field “Address” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field “Phone” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field “City” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field “Zip/Postal code” is a mandatory Staff Member's details field Mandatory phone country and area code fields Mandatory state field for accounts |
APS OAuth API Gateway URL |
A provider (or L1 reseller) can have resellers who need to integrate their management systems (for example, ERP) with the platform. To allow those systems to get access to the platform, the provider can choose to do it through a third-party API gateway (for example, Microsoft API gateway). In this case, the provider must specify the URL of the chosen API gateway in the APS OAuth API Gateway URL field. Note: The provider must ensure that the API gateway forwards its domain name in the For more details on using an external API gateway, refer to this section. |
APS controller public host name |
When setting up the APS controller to integrate with APS connectors in the Internet, enter the public domain name (or public IP address) and TCP port (optional) of the OSS microservice proxy as configured in the proxy settings or reverse NAT server settings in the following format: |
APS development mode |
Enable this property only when testing and debugging APS packages on a demo CloudBlue Commerce system. |
APS placeholders in provider panel |
Use to allow custom views to plug in to the PCP. This property is enabled by default. |
Ability to add domains from customer CP |
Use to give resellers and customers the ability to add domains using the CP. This system property can be modified by a provider or a reseller. |
Ability to remove domains from customer CP |
Use to give resellers and customers the ability to remove domains using the CP. This system property can be modified by a provider or a reseller. |
Allow creating only one-time passwords |
Use to enable staff members to create only one-time passwords for other staff members of the provider, a reseller or a customer as well as allow a customer's staff members to set only one-time passwords for service users. If you enable this feature, staff members of any level will be able to create one-time passwords for all the above user categories. All such users must then change those single-use passwords to their own permanent ones on their first login to their control panel. CloudBlue Commerce synchronizes this setting for your resellers automatically. |
Allow custom login for service users in CCP/PCP/RCP panels |
Turn on if you want to enable your customers to use custom UPN logins for their service users. Without this option enabled, the customers will be able to create UPN logins only by selecting their domains registered in CloudBlue Commerce. This system property can be modified by a provider only. |
Allow resources overuse during subscription migration |
By enabling this property, you can downgrade any subscription with resource overuse. In that case, on the Home > All Resource Usage screen in the CCP, resource overuse will be displayed. If the property is disabled, a downgrade will fail. If limits on the target subscription are set to zero for some services, they will be unprovided regardless of this system property value. This system property can be modified by a provider or a reseller. |
Allow to create custom NS records from CP |
Use to give resellers and customers the ability to add NS records using the CP. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Allow to move domains between subscriptions |
Use to control the ability to change a subscription for a domain. If it is disabled, there is no ability to change it. If the subscription is changed, all hosting services installed on the domain within the bounds of the source subscription are uninstalled. Then services are installed on the domain according to the destination subscription. The subscription change does not transit the content and hosting configuration. This is a system-wide property that only the provider can change. It is disabled by default. For example, a customer account has two subscriptions. The first subscription includes Service A and Service B, and the second subscription includes Service C. The example.com domain is created under the first subscription. Service A and Service B are added to the example.com domain. After changing the example.com domain's subscription from the first one to the second one, Service A and Service B are removed, and Service C is added to the example.com domain respectively. |
Allow using of several dots in domain name |
Use to give the ability to add multiple level domains. Such domains have several dots in the domain name (for example, domain.co.uk). This property is only applied during domain addition, so changes do not affect already existing domains. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Cache Expiration Time |
Enter a period (in days) for your browser to automatically retrieve system properties from a database. You can also do this manually by clicking Refresh list of properties from database. This option can be useful when there are two or more administrators who have different entry points to CloudBlue Commerce. When any of them makes changes in system properties, the others will see them updated after the time period defined in the Cache Expiration Time field or immediately by clicking Refresh list of properties from database. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Context help base server | Base URL of the server to obtain the content for contextual help in UX1. The default value is: https://docs.cloudblue.com/helpcenter |
Disallow manual password setting in PCP/RCP in Operations Automation |
Use to hide the fields for manual password entry in the customer user creation (or editing) wizard in the PCP and the RCP. If you enable this feature, your staff members and staff members of your resellers will only be able to generate passwords automatically for customers' staff members. CloudBlue Commerce synchronizes this setting for your resellers automatically. |
Documentation Downloads page URL |
Use to provide a link to a page where customers can access guides, tutorials and other documentation concerning CloudBlue Commerce administration. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Domain registrar status default value |
Use to set a default registrar status value for domains. This value is automatically applied to all newly created domains. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
External forgot password URL |
Use to define a URL where a customer is redirected after clicking the Forgot password? link. If this field is empty, the customer is redirected to the default URL. |
External login URL |
Use to define a URL where a staff member of a customer or reseller account is redirected to in the following cases:
This system property is not defined by default (the standard Operations log-in screen is used). It can be modified by the provider only. |
External logout URL |
Use to define a URL where a staff member of a customer or reseller account is redirected to after clicking the Logout link in the PCP. If the property is not defined, they are redirected to the standard CloudBlue Commerce login screen. This property is not defined by default. It can be modified by the provider only. |

Number of lines per page for long lists |
Use to set the number of list items displayed per single page (100 by default). |
Password brute force attack protection |
Use to defend users from brute-force attacks. A user (staff member or service user) is temporarily blocked from accessing the control panel after several sequential failed login attempts. Configure the following parameters for this option amongst the list of system properties:
These system properties can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Password for billing usage report |
Enter a password to the server where billing usage reports are published. |
Password history expiration period (months) |
Specify the period that users' passwords are stored in the CloudBlue Commerce database. |
Password history: prohibiting last passwords reuse (count) |

Use to define whether customer domains registered elsewhere can be hosted on DNS servers managed by CloudBlue Commerce. The following options are available:
The property is enabled by default. It can be modified by the provider only. |
Provide DNSSEC for domains registered elsewhere |
Use to enable and disable the ability of customers and resellers to manage DNSSEC for domains registered elsewhere. Note: DNSSEC is provided for domains with internal DNS hosting only. This system property can be modified by the provider only. |
Q&A page URL |
Enter a URL where customers can ask questions and get answers related to the services you provide. It can be a link to the corresponding forum section or the FAQ page of your site. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Session timeout notification delay (minutes) |
When a user has been inactive for some time (that is, does not perform any actions in the control panel) the session closes due to inactivity timeout. To proceed, the user must log in again. This parameter defines when a customer's user will see a notification saying that the session will expire soon due to inactivity. This parameter is not related to the User session timeout (minutes) parameter (see below). This parameter allows you to only set after how many minutes of inactivity a warning message will be displayed to your customers' users. Note: Make sure you set the session timeout notification delay shorter than the CloudBlue Commerce session timeout. Otherwise, your customers' users will not receive session timeout notifications. The session timeout notification delay and the CloudBlue Commerce session timeout are not interrelated and there is no automatic validation mechanism to compare their values. This setting is applicable only to UX1 for Customers users, and is not applicable to PCP or RCP users. |
Short US states |
Turn this option on for US states and Canadian provinces names to be displayed in two-letter variants, like AL for Alabama, ON for Ontario, and so on, when entering any contact information for a US or Canadian person or organization in CloudBlue Commerce. This option is system-wide, that is, it affects both PCP and CCP views. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Show context help | Use this option to manage availability of contextual help in UX1. |
Support Contacts page URL |
If you offer any kind of support to your resellers and customers, here you can specify the URL of the page containing information on contact details. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Trouble Ticketing System URL |
Provide a link to a page where subscribers can report on problems they come across while working with CloudBlue Commerce. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
Use Operations skins in Billing |
When you log in to Billing from Operations, Billing determines what skin is currently used in CloudBlue Commerce and where it is located in order to apply the same skin. The property allows for the configuring of how such information is provided to Billing. If the property is enabled, Billing receives a full URL to the CloudBlue Commerce skin located in the Operations and Billing shared storage. If the property is disabled, Billing only receives the skin name which it uses to find the CloudBlue Commerce skin in the Billing native storage of skins. This system property can be modified by the provider or a reseller. |
User locking period after too many authentication errors (minutes) |
Specify the length of the temporary lock-out period in minutes. This property is used together with the Password brute force attack protection option. |
User session timeout (minutes) |
Set the allowed idle time for a user session in minutes. This value is applied to all child customer and reseller accounts. Note: To set the Billing session inactivity timeout refer to this topic. |
Note: System properties can also be modified during system component installation or upgrade.
