Creating Mailbox

Any service user may be provided with one email account. To provide an email account to the staff member being in charge of corporate email accounts, you have to perform the following steps:

  1. In CloudBlue Commerce CP, go to Mail > Mailboxes.
  2. Click on the Add New Mailbox button.
  3. Specify a service user. There are the following options:
    • New Service User – Select this option button if you want to create a new service user. Click on the Next button.
    • Existing Service User – Select this option if you want to choose an existing service user. Click on the Next button and select the service user in radio-button list. Note, the step 4 will be skipped.
  4. Complete the following fields:
    • In the Display name field, type the name of the new service user as it will be displayed in CloudBlue Commerce. The following format should be used: FIRST_NAME LAST_NAME. For example, John Smith.
    • In the Login area, specify the new service user's login in the UPN (User Principal Name) format. For the UPN login, you need to type the login name and select an existing domain from the drop-down list.

Note: Provider may give you the possibility to create a service user having a custom login.

    • Type the password in the Password field. The password strength indicator will prompt you how strong is your password. If you want the system to generate a strong password, click Generate and remember the displayed password.

      Notes:

      1. Login and password of the specified service user will be used for accessing a Mailbox.

      2. For more information on service users, refer to the Managing Service Users section.

    • Click Next to proceed.
  5. Enter the new email address configuration parameters:
    • Email address – Type the first part of the address (before the '@' sign) in the field, and select the domain for this address from the drop-down list near the field.

Important: The current implementation of the qmail service does not allow the using of special characters in the local part of the email addresses except dots that are not the first or last character, dashes and underlines. The using of other special characters is restricted in order to avoid conflicts, since symbols like '&' or ':' are widely used by the source routing syntax and UNIX shell commands.

You can make the new address work on all or on one of domains created within the set of your subscription.

Note: Provider may give you the possibility to create addresses on not-ready domains. Such domains are marked as disabled in the list. The Email address created in this way will be marked as Not In Sync while qmail hosting on the domain is disabled. Only after the domain is ready for work, the Email address will start functioning properly.

    • Show in Global Address Book – this option is available only if your subscription includes a webmail service supporting the Global Address Book visibility management for mailboxes. It allows to sync and show this Email address in Webmail Global Address Book.
    • Advanced Features – you have the choice of enabling such mail advanced features as virus checking and Antispam checking, if appropriate resources are included into your subscription and the resource limit is not reached.
    • Storage – Check the box near the Create storage field if you want to add a storage for your mailbox.

To enable the storage, check the box near the Storage enabled field. Set a quota on disk space used by this mailbox. To do that, either select the Custom radio button and type in the quota in Kilobytes or select the Maximum available value radio button and the default mailbox quota will be set.

Note: The default quota limit depends on settings of the qmail service.

    • Forwarding – enter email addresses separated by comma, semicolon or space in the corresponding field. These addresses will be used for forwarding email messages sent to the mailbox being configured now.
    • Configure Notifications – this section contains the configuration settings for notification messages to be sent to a mailbox user. Check in the Send notification check box to enable the option of notification sending, specify the email address that will be used for notifying of a new mailbox creation. Indicate whether you wish to have the test message to be sent to the new email address by checking in the corresponding check box.
  6. When you have entered all values, click Next to proceed, or Cancel to quit.
  7. Specify parameters for the webmail access.

Note: The list of the available options depends on your subscription. If you already have installed applications supporting webmail access, those will be available in the options below.

  8. Click on the Next button.
  9. At the final step you will get displayed the summary with the new email address configuration parameters. If you would like to make some changes on the previous step, use the Back button that takes you back to the previous steps. Otherwise, click Finish to complete the procedure, or Cancel to quit without submitting any data.

Note: The procedure above describes the optimal way to create an email account with an online access (webmail). However, if you wish to add webmail access to a newly created user, make sure you check Email option in his account (see Creating New Service User (QMail) for instructions on how to create new service user accounts). Otherwise, trying to provide webmail for a user with a disabled email feature may result in an error.
