EPAG Registrar Overview
EPAG uses their EPNIC platform for automated domain registration and management. The Epnic Plug-in is a Billing plug-in that establishes communication between the EPNIC domain registration system and CloudBlue Commerce. The plug-in enables customers to register domains in various domain zones using CloudBlue Commerce. For more information on the supported domain zones, refer to http://www.epag.de/en/tldlist.
Note: In this guide, we refer to the domain registrar as EPAG and to the domain registration plug-in in Billing as Epnic.
Epnic plug-in supports the following operations and features:
- Domain registration
- Domain renewal
- Domain transfer
- Domain ownership change
- Domain cancellation
- Domain availability checks
- Sending contact information updates to the registrar
- DNS settings updates
- WHOIS privacy
- Internationalized domain name (IDN) registration
- Domain transit to registry
Before configuring the Epnic plug-in, set up a merchant account with EPAG and clarify whether any additional information or your merchant account post-configuration will be needed. For more information, go to http://www.epag.de.
Billing Preconfiguration needed for integration with EPAG
Important: The Billing EPNIC plug-in supports UTF-8 encoding, which makes it possible for customers to use their national alphabets when registering domains in various zones.
Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) are supported by the Epnic plug-in for the following top-level domains:
- .com
- .net
- .info
- .biz
- .de
- .at
- .ch
- .li
- .dk
- .es
- .se
Specific Customer Attribute for .se domains
To register domains in the .se zone, a registrant must submit the following additional information:
- For individuals:
- Personal identity card (ID Card) number.
- For companies:
- Registration number.
- VAT number.
You can configure the necessary customer attributes in Billing to request the above information during the domain registration process.
The respective customer attributes have the following hard-coded system IDs:
IDCardNum
- for the ID card number.VATNum
- for the company VAT number.RegNum
- for the company registration number.
After you add and activate them (see below), the above customer attributes generate the respective fields on the online store account registration page. Although designed for EPAG, the custom attributes behave in a similar way to other attributes. For example, while an attribute is active, the corresponding field is always shown, even though the customer may be registering a domain in another zone (that is, a zone other than the .se zone).
Important: A standard VAT number field is built in the account registration form displayed in online stores. However, to send their VAT numbers to EPAG, customers must enter them into the respective special field which represents the VATNum customer attribute configured for EPAG.
How to add a customer attribute
To add a Customer Attribute, go to System > Settings and click Attributes in the Operations section. Click Add New Attribute and complete the form, paying special attention to the following fields:
- ID . Enter the respective customer attribute ID as listed above. For example,
IDCardNum
. - Name . Type the name of the field to be shown in online stores. For example,
ID Card Number
. - Description . Enter an explanation that the attribute is mandatory only for domain registration in the .se zone. For the ID card number, explain that the field is intended for personal accounts. For the VAT Number and Registration number attributes, enter an explanation that these fields are intended for organizations registering their domain names in the .se zone.
- Value Type. Select STR.
- Status. Choose Optional.
- Applicable to. Choose Users.
- Active. Select the check box.
- Show in Storefront. Select the check box.
