Setting Auto-Renewal for a Subscription Period
The auto-renewal settings for subscription periods allow you to enable auto-renewal for some subscription periods and disable for others. For example:
If you want free trial subscriptions to be automatically converted into paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period:
-
Enable automatic renewal in the General settings of the service plan.
-
Enable automatic renewal for the trial period and choose the paid period to which subscriptions will be automatically switched at the end of the trial period. See below.
Important: If you configure a trial subscription to automatically renew and switch to a paid subscription when the trial period is over, you will not be able to switch such a subscription to a paid subscription manually. You either will have to wait for the automatic switching when the trial period is over or will have to cancel the trial subscription and create a new paid subscription. However, if for a trial period autorenewal to a paid period is not enabled, you can manually switch a trial subscription to a paid subscription either by switching to another service plan or by switching to another subscription period.
To configure auto-renewal for a subscription period of a service plan:
-
Go to Products > Service Plans. Click the necessary service plan.
-
In the Subscription Periods tab, click the necessary period.
-
In the General tab, click Edit. Complete these fields:
-
Autorenewal:
Note: The Autorenewal field is available in the Subscription Periods tab only when auto-renewal is switched on for the service plan in the General tab.
-
Disabled (default for trial periods): If you do not want subscriptions with this subscription period to be renewed automatically. If you choose this option for a trial period, trial subscriptions cannot be automatically converted to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period. However, both you and your customers can convert such subscriptions into paid subscriptions manually without having to wait for the end of the trial period.
-
Defined in general settings of Service Plan (default for paid periods):
-
If you want paid subscriptions with this period to be renewed automatically as configured in the general settings of the service plan.
-
If you want trial subscriptions with this subscription period to be automatically converted into paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period.
Note: If Autorenewal is set to Defined in general settings of Service Plan for a trial period, your customers cannot upgrade such trial subscriptions to paid subscriptions manually before the end of the trial period. They will have to wait until the end of the trial period, where their trial subscription will be automatically converted into a paid subscription. However, your customers can manually switch such trial subscriptions to another trial period (if another trial period option is configured) or cancel them.
