How to Add New Recurring Licenses and Add-ons on an Existing Installation of the Application

This section describes how to configure resources of new recurring licenses and add-ons for an application instance that already has resources for some recurring licenses and add-ons.

Adding New Recurring Licenses and Their Add-ons

For example, you need to add the following recurring licenses and their add-ons:

  • Office 365 Business Premium
  • Office 365 Extra File Storage
  • Exchange Online Archiving for Exchange Online
  • Exchange Online Advanced Threat Protection

Notes:

1. Instead of performing steps 1-12 of the procedure below, you can use the script autoconf.py and the latest CSP Deployment Assistant. See Automatic Resource Configuration (autoconf.py) for details.

2. You can use the Edit Configuration mode of the Product Configuration Manager (PCM) to add new recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses. See Resource Configuration Through the Product Configuration Manager for details.

3. Do not create separate license types and Office 365 Recurring License resource types for trial recurring licenses. Instead, in the Trial Offer ID fields in the license types of the respective paid recurring licenses, specify the trial offer identifiers of those trial recurring licenses.

4. The configuration of service plans for some recurring licenses differs from the configuration of service plans for the other recurring licenses. Some licenses listed in the recurring license product catalog are one-time payment licenses. For instance, see Microsoft 365 A1. Refer to Creating Service Plans for Recurring Licenses and Add-ons for details.

To configure new recurring licenses and their add-ons for your application instance, perform the following actions:

  1. Obtain the latest product catalog. You will use it in further steps to obtain necessary information about recurring licenses and add-ons.
  2. Create a separate license type for each new recurring license. To do this, use the instructions in Creating License Types.

For example, create the following license type:

    Office 365 Business Premium

    • License Name: Office 365 Business Premium
    • Offer ID: 031c9e47-4802-4248-838e-778fb1d2cc05
    • Trial Offer ID: c0bd2e08-11ac-4836-bdc7-3712e744922f
    • Provisioning ID: O365_BUSINESS_PREMIUM
    • Can be assigned to users: Yes
    • Possible upgrades: empty

Note: When creating license and add-on types for recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses, take into account the parent-child relations of these licenses. See Creating License Types for details.

  3. After you create license types for all necessary recurring licenses, check and update the list of possible upgrades of every license type. This is necessary to obtain the correct configuration of upgrades between recurring licenses, as specified in your product catalog. When doing this, use your product catalog to obtain information about possible upgrades.
  4. Create a separate add-on type for each new add-on recurring license. To do this, use the instructions in Creating Add-on Types.

For example, create the following add-on types:

    • Office 365 Extra File Storage

      • Add-on Name: Office 365 Extra File Storage
      • Offer ID: 53fc25f7-6639-4f78-bb44-3c2dfec3ed40
      • Provisioning ID: SHAREPOINTSTORAGE
      • Can be assigned to users: No
      • Possible parent licenses: Office 365 Business Premium

Exchange Online Archiving for Exchange Online

      • Add-on Name: Exchange Online Archiving for Exchange Online
      • Offer ID: 2828be95-46ba-4f91-b2fd-0bef192ecf60
      • Provisioning ID: EXCHANGEARCHIVE_ADDON
      • Can be assigned to users: Yes
      • Possible parent licenses: Office 365 Business Premium

      Exchange Online Advanced Threat Protection

      • Add-on Name: Exchange Online Advanced Threat Protection
      • Offer ID: a2706f86-868d-4048-989b-0c69e5c76b63
      • Provisioning ID: ATP_ENTERPRISE
      • Can be assigned to users: Yes
      • Possible parent licenses: Office 365 Business Premium

Note: When creating license and add-on types for recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses, take into account the parent-child relations of these licenses. See Creating Add-on Types for details.

  5. After you create license and add-on types for all necessary recurring licenses and their add-on recurring licenses, check and update the list of possible parents of every add-on type. This is necessary to obtain the correct configuration of license and add-on types that complies with the parent-child relations of recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses, as specified in your product catalog. When doing this, use your product catalog to obtain information about possible parent-child relations.
  6. Create the corresponding Office 365 Recurring License resource type for each new license type. To do this, use the instructions in Creating 'Office 365 Recurring License' Resource Types.

For example, create the following Office 365 Recurring License resource type:

    Office 365 Business Premium

    • License type instance: Office 365 Business Premium
  7. Create the corresponding Office 365 Add-on Recurring License resource type for each new add-on type. To do this, use the instructions in Creating 'Office 365 Add-on Recurring' License Resource Types.

For example, create the following Office 365 Add-on Recurring License resource types:

    • Office 365 Extra File Storage

      • Add-on type instance: Office 365 Extra File Storage
    • Exchange Online Archiving for Exchange Online

  9. In OA Operations, add each new resource type to the Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons) service template:

    1. Go to Products > Service Templates.
    2. Select the Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons) service template.
    3. Select the General tab and click Deactivate.
    4. Select the Resources tab and click Add resources.
    5. Select the new resources and click Submit.
    6. Set the resource limits to 0 and click Submit.
    7. Select the General tab and click Activate.
  10. Create a separate Office 365 service plan for each new Office 365 Recurring License resource type (resource). To do this, use the instructions in Creating Service Plans for Recurring Licenses and Add-ons.

For example, create the following Office 365 service plans:

    • Office 365 Business Premium

      • Service Template: Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons)
      • Service Terms: Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons)

        • Resource / Inc. Amount / Max Amount / Recurring Fee: Office 365 Business Premium / 25 / 25 / $0.00
      • Upgrades: Office 365 Business Premium
  11. After you add new Office 365 service plans, complete the following steps:

    • Check and update the resource rates of all Office 365 service plans that are based on the Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons) service template. This is necessary to obtain the correct configuration of resource rates that complies with the parent-child relations of recurring licenses and add-on recurring licenses, as specified in your product catalog. See Creating Service Plans for Recurring Licenses and Add-ons for details.
    • Check and update the allowed upgrade paths of all Office 365 service plans that are based on the Office 365 (Recurring Licenses and Add-ons) service template.
