Avoiding Undesired Reseller Synchronization
When not properly configured, synchronization of resellers can harm their business. For example, when a reseller has their own custom configuration of sales categories and plan categories, the synchronization of changes to delegated service plans and sales categories on the provider's side can overwrite the reseller's custom configuration and, as a result, disrupt the reseller's business activity. To prevent such a disruption, together with your potentially affected resellers, you can configure the system in such a way that such undesired propagation will not occur:
- in PCP: disable propagation to a particular reseller of changes the provider may make to the reseller plan or a delegated sales category (see below);
- in RCP: create the reseller's own sales categories and move the delegated service plans (in which custom changes are expected) to the newly created sales categories.
To disable the propagation to a particular reseller of changes the provider makes to the reseller plan or a delegated sales category:
- Go to Provider Control Panel > Billing > Operations > Resellers. Click the necessary reseller in the list.
- Click Edit. In the Reseller Settings section of the General tab:
- for regular resellers (Operating Unit = No): select Disable sales categories synchronization (unselected by default). This setting prevails over the reseller synchronization settings which become available when you:
- synchronize the reseller plan either for all resellers or only for direct resellers who are subscribed to the reseller plan;
- synchronize the delegated plans and sales categories for a particular reseller alone or with sub-resellers.
For more information on reseller synchronization, please see Ways of Reseller Synchronization.
- for operating units (that is, for provider's sales branches, Operating Unit = Yes): select the necessary settings:
- Disable prices synchronization: The setting disables the synchronization of prices to the reseller.
- Disable categories synchronization: The setting disables the synchronization of the sales and plan categories.
- Disable publication/visibility status synchronization: The setting disables the synchronization of:
- Published status of the service plan, which defines publication and visibility in UX1 and End-Customer and Reseller Marketplaces.
- Active and Trial flags for subscription periods of the service plans.
- Show in Store and Show in CP flags for resource rates.
- Disable Terms&Conditions synchronization: The setting disables the synchronization of the Terms&Conditions document.
- Disable cascade synchronization of sub-resellers: The setting disables cascade synchronization of sub-resellers.
- for regular resellers (Operating Unit = No): select Disable sales categories synchronization (unselected by default). This setting prevails over the reseller synchronization settings which become available when you:
- Save the changes.
