Getting Ready for Selling
Note: For PLM terminology, refer to the Glossary.
The PLM component operates with the following portfolio-related entities:
-
The product is a service, a physical item, or an accounting item that has its own identifier and must be considered separately. Examples of a product are a cloud service, a piece of software or hardware, a professional or managed service, or a support service. In terms of an accounting item, a product can be a penalty or cancellation fee.
-
The plan is a collection of products to be distributed on the market that:
-
Represents an offer to a customer (a template for a potential subscription),
-
Groups all products that can be provided either in a subscription during the subscription creation or added afterwards,
-
May include one or several products,
-
May include products from only one vendor,
-
May include products that have relations between them.
-
-
The product line is a group of products from one vendor with the same fulfillment parameters.
When you create a product in PLM, the respective product line is also created for it automatically. Product line fulfillment parameters differ for products fulfilled internally and imported from an external fulfillment system.
In this section, as a user responsible for portfolio management, you will find out how to launch a new product, keep your portfolio up to date, and share your portfolio with Operating units and resellers.
